When AI meets HPC: AI Factories Webinar, AI for Science Bootcamp, and AI Hackathon

Dear VSC users and friends, there is a lot of rumor recently about AI in general and about the European AI Factories in particular. With this newsletter we would like to bring three quite different AI events to your attention: * AI Factories Webinar on next Monday, 31 March 2025 * AI for Science Bootcamp on 27-28 May 2025 * AI Hackathon on 14-23 October 2025 * Welcome on board (info about the [VSC Training News] mailing list for our (new) subscribers) AI Factories: a Boost for Artificial Intelligence in Europe 31 March 2025, 13:00-14:30 CET Learn about AI Factories and their role in Europe's AI strategy, as well as services, synergies with existing HPC/AI initiatives, the infrastructure, and opportunities these new hubs will bring. For more details & registration: https://events.vsc.ac.at/e/AIF AI for Science Bootcamp 27-28 May 2025, 09:00-12:30 CEST Together with NVIDIA, OpenACC organization, and other partners from the EuroCC network we are offering an End-to-End AI for Science Bootcamp. It provides a step-by-step overview of the fundamentals of deep neural networks, walks attendees through the hands-on experience of building and improving deep learning models using a framework that uses the fundamental laws of physics to model the behavior of complex systems (physics-informed neural networks - PINNs), and enables attendees to visualize the outputs of the trained model. This online bootcamp is a hands-on learning experience where you will be guided through step-by-step instructions with teaching assistants on hand to help throughout. For more details & application (application deadline 25 April 2025): https://events.vsc.ac.at/e/AI4science-2025-05 AI Hackathon 14-23 October 2025, 09:00-17:00 CEST Together with NVIDIA, OpenACC organization, and other partners from the EuroCC network we are hosting an AI hackathon for teams of at least 3 team members and based in EU and/or EuroCC countries who are looking to take their projects to the next level. Teams are expected to bring their own codes to the hackathon. Open AI Hackathons are multi-day, intensive hands-on events designed to help AI and ML engineers and data scientists accelerate, optimize, and scale their real-world projects leveraging the latest technologies. The event pairs participating teams with dedicated expert mentors to enhance the performance, efficiency, and scalability of their applications using state-of-the-art programming models, libraries, and tools. Whether you're working on deep learning, data analytics, or model optimization, this hackathon provides a unique opportunity to push the boundaries of innovation using an advanced AI and ML infrastructure. N-Ways to GPU Programming Bootcamp, 8-9 April 2025

Dear VSC users and friends, together with NVIDIA and OpenACC organization a group of NCCs (Austria, Czechia, Germany, Montenegro, Poland, Slovenia, and Sweden) is organizing a couple of Bootcamps for the European HPC and AI user community - the applications deadline for the first event is already 10 March 2025: N-Ways to GPU Programming Bootcamp 8-9 April 2025, 09:00-16:00 CEST, online https://events.vsc.ac.at/e/N-Ways-GPU-2025-04 Explore four different GPU programming models in just one and a half days. The N-Ways to GPU Programming Bootcamp covers the basics of GPU programming and provides an overview of different methods for porting scientific applications to GPUs using NVIDIA CUDA, OpenACC and OpenMP offloading, and standard languages (C/C++ and Fortran). Throughout the bootcamp, attendees with teaching assistants on hand will explore multiple GPU programming models, learn how to analyze GPU-enabled applications using NVIDIA Nsight Systems, and participate in hands-on activities to apply these learned skills to real-world problems. The lectures will be given by Paul Graham from NVIDIA and teaching assistants from the organizing NCCs will help you with the hands-on labs done on one of their supercomputers. The bootcamp is open to all coming from institutions in EU and/or EuroHPC JU countries and welcomes participants from academia, industry, and public administration.
