Dear VSC users, For a planned downtime in the coming weeks (details will be provided in a forthcoming mail) there is the optional chance to extend the off-time for a limited period to offer exclusive access to essentially the entire cluster for power users interested in running large scale tests. At this point we are just reaching out to our power users to learn whether there is any interest in such a service --- we like to call it "strong scaling days". So if you are a VSC power user, have a particular application you would like to benchmark at unprecedented scale and can estimate the time you would need to carry out your tests, please get back to us with approximate details, e.g. how many nodes you believe you could productively use, in what partition you would like to run your benchmarks, what is a reasonable overall time span you would need to conclude your tests, is there any reference timings you could use to judge your results, would you need such scaling data for proposals to get access to other tier-0 systems, would you need any specific support in case you are granted benchmark time in the VSC strong scaling days?
