DATA storage full - please free up space

Dear VSC users. Currently, the entire DATA storage volume is filled up to 100% - there is only a rather tiny amount of space left, so we have to expect jobs to begin failing now. Cluster shutdown and storage repair on 14/15.01.2025

Dear VSC-Users As many of you have experienced, we currently have problems with our storage which affects all nodes on both VSC-4 and VSC-5. We therefore need to take the storage array offline to enact repairs on the controllers - this means we have to shut down VSC-4 and VSC-5, including the login nodes and GUI nodes as well as jupyterhub (none of those work without the storage mounted). This will happen on Tuesday, the 14th of January and Wednesday, the 15th of January. Running jobs will be terminated on Tuesday morning and login will not be possible during that time. We will also use this shutdown to extend the cooling of VSC-5, which will then get some additional compute nodes. We aim to resume operations by Thursday, the 16th of January in the morning. Problems with storage

Dear VSC users, Since yesterday, we have problems with our DATA storage volume. The entire volume is filled over 95%, and especially the fast NVMe tier is basically full. The migration between NVMe tier and the slower, big harddisk tier is too slow to compensate. This causes any writes of larger files or more numerous files to fail, resulting in the error message 'no space left on device'. This is independent of the used/available space of the individual projects. We are working on a solution which will hopefully go into effect today, but until then, use of DATA is limited. Reading files is not affected at all, but writing only works for few and rather small files at a time. We would suggest to stop any jobs which create more output on DATA to prevent using up the core-h for failing jobs.
